File Services:
A. SGU Program locations. (Students and Faculty/Staff)
The St. Gregory's University network has many computer programs for use with all faculty, staff and student computers. These programs are located on the applications server in the applications folder. For more information about how to find the programs and how to install them see "Section 8. installing programs"B. Web pages Faculty/Staff ONLY
Certain programs and documents can be placed on the St. Gregory's University intranet site. However, large programs should not be placed in your personal web folder. Contact the SGU Help Desk or the Webmaster for help in making a personal storage folder on the faculty/staff file server. (see C. below)C. Personal storage folders.-- Faculty/Staff.
Personal storage folders may be set up for faculty/staff and SGU departments to handle large or networked applications. Student access is prohibited. These will be located on the faculty staff server on the stgregorys.edu domain. Contact the SGU Help Desk for assistance in creating and setting up your personal storage folder.D. Personal storage folders.-- Students.
Personal storage folders may be set up for students. These folders are for your internal use and start at $5 per semester for 100 MB of space. See the SGU Help Desk for details.
Printing Services:
A. Networked Printers (Everyone)Web Services:
High capacity printers are available in many areas. Student/Staff/Faculty access to these printers is available 24 hours a day. Other printers are for faculty and staff departmental use only. Contact the Help Desk in setting your computer up for departmental printing. For installation information see How to set up a printer document.

Some offices have stand-alone printers due to security and special need. Only those departments may use these computers. Check with the SGU Help Desk for information on your particular departmental needs.
E-mail Services:
St. Gregory's University maintains campus-wide e-mail with access to Internet mail.
SGU campus E-mail can be accessed via Microsoft Outlook or via the web at http://mail.stgregorys.edu/exchange .For instructions on how to use the web-based e-mail system, see

Each faculty, staff, and student computer is set up to use a specific Outlook profile for that user. Please do not modify the email settings provided. If you are borrowing a machine from someone, please use http://mail.stgregorys.edu web site to read your email.
Multiple Alumni and educational listservs are available. St. Gregory's University maintains a listserv. To obtain a list of current mailing lists, please send mail to imailsrv@alumni.stgregorys.edu or imail@edlist.stgregorys.edu and in the message body type “list”. You will automatically receive a listing of the mailing lists from the server. Once you have obtained a list you may join by sending an email to imailsrv@alumni.stgregorys.edu or imailsrv@edlist.stgregorys.edu and in the body section type "subscribe listname" your_full_name.

If you wish to create mailing lists to use in your professional development or for a class, then please email the network administrator for assistance in becoming a site administrator. It only takes about 15 min. to set up. This service is very useful because a list can be customized completely for secure access for classes.
Global Distribution lists:
The SGU Help Desk maintains and can create public distribution lists for our campus network. Please notify the Help Desk manager or MIS Director for assistance.Chat Resources:
SGU has discontinued chat services as many other programs such as ICQ or MSN messenger are becoming popular.Dial-UP access.
The SGU network currently does not have dial-up network services available. Students are encouraged to sign up with a regional or national Internet Service Provider.
