Computer Equipment available for student use:

SmartBoards.
There are 3 SmartBoards available for use. These are electronic touch sensitive boards that act like your mouse when touched. You can hook them up to any computer that has an available serial port. They require a projector and some initial setup for each computer they will be used with. They also double as a regular dry-erase board. To check-out a SmartBoard, contact your instructor for availability.
Projectors
There are 9 projectors available for use. Some are these are located on the third floor of administration, while others are located on the fourth floor. These projectors can be used with SmartBoards or screens in designated classrooms or conference halls. Some are very lightweight, so they can be transported almost anywhere. One of the projectors doubles as a digital document projector. To check-out a projector, contact your instructor.
Library Equipment.
The second floor library has 5 computers accessible to the Internet and online card catalog. Students are encouraged to use these computers for research instead of word processing. Priority access to these computers will be given to students doing research. Contact library personnel for assistance in using all of the software and research capabilities that these computers have to offer. Campus Wireless access is available in the library.
TVs and VCRs.
TV + VCR carts are located on the third and fourth floors. Ask a department manager for assistance into the closets. 3rd floor VCR remotes can be checked out from the Multimedia lab director.
Computer Labs
There are 3 computer labs on campus.
Rockwood Center 2nd floor Multimedia Lab
The Multimedia lab has high-powered computer equipment and multimedia software available for use. Many web-design applications are available such as Microsoft FrontPage or Macromedia Dreamweaver. Animation software is also available such as Macromedia Flash.. Graphic and photo tools are also available such as Microsoft Photo-editor, and Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Premiere as well as digital-video capture equipment is available for checkout. Students must contact their professor if they wish to use a camera or video camera. Several Macintosh computers are available for video processing. Persons can also make color printouts for .35 a page. A color scanner is also available. Contact the multimedia lab personnel for assistance. Also take a look at other policies for checking out equipment from the lab. Contact the multimedia lab director for instruction on how to use all equipment.
Multimedia Lab hours: 9:00a.m. to 4:30p.m.. Lab check-out of projection equipment extends to 9:00p.m (if student assistance is available) Please ask security for assistance if you need in after hours.

The Computer lab has 20 computers available for general use as well as classroom use. The lab has a projector screen and laptop ports in the floor for instructors. The computer lab computers have Microsoft Operating systems and Microsoft Office for use. Internet Access is also provided. Students must show current student ID and must have a SGU logon account to use the computers. See the Help Desk or a lab assistant for information regarding your SGU account. Lab hours are posted each semester on the door or you can see them on this page.
Benedictine Hall AD 402 Math Lab.
This computer lab is used by the Math and Science Department. The lab has 7 computers, laser printer, scanner and software that operate math and science software only. Some laptop ports are available. No general purpose software is available.
