Graduating Students: What happens to my SGU account after I graduate? Can I keep it? How can I keep up with my fellow graduates from SGU after graduation? What happens to my SGU account after I graduate? Can I keep it? St. Gregory's University will keep your account active for 60 days after you graduate. This will give you time to set up an account on another email service account provider. Unfortunately, SGU cannot continue to provide students network and email accounts after they leave due to capacity restrictions. Those individuals not graduating but not returning will have access to their email accounts 30 days after they leave. Alumni may have a free 10 MB web-based email account. Contact the help desk for more information and request form. How can I keep up with my fellow graduates from SGU after graduation? Students may join a listserv set up for their individual graduation year. 1. Go to http://www.stgregorys.edu/alumni/resources_alumni.htm 2. Follow the instructions on the page to get signed up. 3. Instructions will be sent to you via email on how to use the listserv. If you have any questions regarding the student listservs, please email the helpdesk. Alumni may have a free 10 MB web-based email account. Contact the help desk for more information and a request form. What email service provider and/or ISP should I choose after I graduate? SGU students typically have email accounts off site before they come to St. Gregory's. Free Email providers include: Hotmail.com http://www.hotmail.com Yahoo.com http://www.yahoo.com Netscape.com http://www.netscape.com You may also want to have an Internet service provider. ISPs also offer email services along with their dial-up or high-speed services. Internet service providers in the Oklahoma area include: SWBell.net http://www.swbell.net Inter.net http://www.us.inter.net America Online http://www.aol.com NetZero http://www.netzero.com/ Charter.net http://www.charter.net Cox @ home http://www.cox.com What should I do before I graduate about my email account and new contact information? 1. Clean up and back-up your SGU mailbox, web-folders, and personal network folders (if any.) 2. Contact the registrar's office to make sure that they have your future mailing address, telephone number and email address. Who do I contact when I want to discontinue using my SGU email account? Contact eh SGU Help Desk at 405-878-5686 and notify them that you are not using your email account anymore and that they should remove it from our email system. This will help us keep our email servers clean from unwanted and unread email. Can I send mass email to all students? Students may send email to all students if the message qualifies under certain rules. Visit the email policy page for more information. How can I change my password via the web-based email system OWA? You can change your password while you access your email.
4. The options window appears. Click the Change password button near the bottom of the window. 5. The change password window appears. For the domain, put in stgregorys. Put in your username, old password, and type in your new password twice. Click OK.
You should see a confirmation box telling you that your password was changed. Can I forward my SGU email to another email account that I have? Yes, You can forward your SGU email to another account that you currently use elsewhere. However, there are a few restrictions.
Instructions for forwarding email are below: To forward all SGU email to an off-campus email address. 1. Open the Microsoft Outlook web access site from http://mail.stgregorys.edu or https://mail.stgregorys.edu . Log on with your SGU username and password. 2. Next click the Rules button at the bottom left of the screen. This brings up the Rules section as shown below.
4. Put in a rule name (optional) 5. Click the Forward it to radio button and put in the address that you want your email forwarded to. 6. Clear the “Keep a copy in my Inbox” checkbox. 7. Click the “Save and Close” button at the top of the window. 8. You may be prompted two times asking whether or not you want to apply this. Choose Yes or OK.
You have now completed setting up forwarding your
email. I have COX Internet Service: How come I cannot send/receive emails via Outlook Express or other Email client?Cox blocks TCP/IP port 25 requests. This means that you cannot send email through any other email system besides Cox. However, you can use any web-based email system like Hotmail, Yahoo, or the SGU web-based email site. Legitimate messages are going to my Junk Mail Box in Outlook 2003. How can I prevent this?Go to the junk mail folder and select the email message. Right-click on the message, select Junk Mail, then select “Add Sender to Safe Sender’s List”
