Below are the steps to take to publish your web to an SGU web site.  Please make sure that you have read and understand the web-page publishing policy before you publish your site.  The instructions below are for all staff, faculty and students and include instructions for opening FrontPage 2002 and creation of a web folder location.  FrontPage is required to access, update and publish your web site to an SGU web.  You do not have to use it to create your webs, only to publish them as SGU has no FTP access to this web site. 

 

Step 1.  Contact the help desk to activate your folder on a web site. helpdesk@stgregorys.edu  or X5686 and obtain further instructions about site, logging on, etc.

Step 2.  Install Microsoft FrontPage 2003 if you have not already done so.  Obtain instructions from the Help Desk on it's location on our network or to arrange to purchase a CD copy of it.

Step 3.  Open Microsoft FrontPage. 

Step 4. Choose Open Web from the File menu.

Step 5.  FrontPage 2003 users:  On the Open Web window, simply type in the full address of the web site that you are connecting to.  (For example, if your address is students.stgregorys.edu/johndoe, you would type http://students.stgregorys.edu/johndoe/ . Include the ending slash. Skip to step 8.

Step 5 FrontPage 2000 or 2002 (Office XP) users:  Clck the create new folder button toward the top right of the window.

Step 6 (Frontpage 2000 or 2002 only).  The Create new folder wizard appears.  If you are using Windows 2000 or Windows ME you'll see the following screen: 

Click Next to create a shortcut to an existing Network Place. 

Step 7.  Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, XP users will see a similar screen.

Type in the full URL (address) of your folder that you were given from the Help Desk. Click your mouse in the shortcut name box. (if you have one.)  (i.e. http://students.stgregorys.edu/username/ )

Click Finish.

Step 8. You may be prompted for your username, password and domain name. 

There are two boxes that may appear.

Step 9. You will be returned to the Open Web folder dialog box.  Click the Open button.

The next time you return to the Open Web screen, you should see a shortcut name that has your web's name.

Step 10.  You will be returned to the main FrontPage 2002 screen.  Verify that you are in the correct folder by looking at the title bar. (blue bar at the top of the screen)

 

Click the Folders button on the left side of FrontPage 2002 to view the contents of the web folder. 

You can now begin creating your web site by clicking  New Page from the file menu.

 

Importing your web from your computer.

Step 1.

If you already have a web site that you created and want to import it, follow the directions above to create a web folder (network place) then choose Import from the File menu.

From Here you can import specific pages, graphics, videos and other files and/or folders that you would like to use.

Step 2.  Click the Add File button.

Step 3.  You can choose specific files from any folder you want.  Click Open when you have the file(s).

Step 4.  Click OK.  From the import window.

The file has been imported.  You can now manipulate it any way you wish.

Add Graphics to your site.
