HOW TO USE ECHO TO PRINTER FEATURE
IN SKYLITE
TO PRINT RECORD CONTENTS
 

Text displayed to your screen can be sent to your default printer from within Skylite.  Described here is an example of displaying the entire contents of a file record.

  1. At the system prompt ($), type SEARCH and the datafilename which contains the record you want to display.  
  2. At "Option?," type FIELD.  To see different options, type HELP. 
  3. Accept the default <2> for the lookup field, or enter the fieldname of your choice.  To see all fields available, type /LIST.
  4. Allow the lookup file to be rebuilt. 
  5. Type ALL to display all fields, or enter the list of fields you wish to see, separated by commas.
  6. Press <enter>.At this point, your screen cursor should be resting at the FULLNAME? prompt.


     
  7. Using your mouse cursor, select SESSION, then ECHO TO PRINTER.  This will cause any further text display to be routed to your default printer.

     
  8. At the FULLNAME? prompt, type the last name of the student and press <enter>.
  9. Type the appropriate line number and press <enter>.

     
  10. Return your mouse cursor to SESSION and deselect ECHO TO PRINTER.
  11. Retrieve the printout from your default printer.
  12. To exit the SEARCH program, press <enter> until the system prompt appears.
