ACCESSING SGU’s FTP SITE

(The FTP site is for internal use only. No authorization can be given to
outside parties for posting to or retrieving from this site.)

From PX login, how to send to or retrieve from the FTP site:

Log in to PX account with your username and password.

 

At the system prompt, type “FTP.”

$ ftp

 

At the ftp> prompt, type connect fs4.stgregorys.edu. You will be prompted for a username and password.  As in the example below, use your NT network username.  At the password prompt, type the  password given to you by the network administrator.

 

 

 

After you are connected, you may use any standard ftp commands.  Use the HELP menu for more information.  Type help.

 

Some examples follow for sending a file, renaming, etc:

 

ftp> put  filename.ext where “filename.ext” is the name of the file in your directory. 

Note:  Some text files in PX are created with ".lis" extension.  If you are sending a text file with an extension of ".lis," be sure to rename the file so that it can be read by a word editor on your pc.

ftp> rename  filename.lis  filename.txt

 

ftp> get  filename.ext

 

ftp> delete  filename.ext  (Delete only your files.)

 

 

When finished, exit the ftp connection:

ftp>exit

 

To retrieve a file from the ftp site for use in Windows application:

 

(You need to be logged on to the campus network.  This won’t work from your home computer unless you use secure connection.)

 

Goto START, RUN

 

Enter into the box:  \\fs4.stgregorys.edu\ftp and press <enter>.

 

 

This will open the ftp folder for your use.  (See note at top of instructions if you have problems.)
